MUMBAI: In a big blow for Mumbai, India seam bowling allrounder Shardul Thakur is suffering from a hand injury and is likely to miss a few matches initially of Mumbai's 2026-27 Ranji Trophy campaign, TOI has exclusively learnt.Thakur was Mumbai's captain for the 2025-26 domestic season, but is set to be replaced by veteran middle-order batsman Sidddhesh Lad as the new Mumbai skipper for the upcoming domestic season. "Shardul suffered a hand injury when he was struck by a ball that Ayush Mhahre drove towards him. The hand injury is likely to see him miss a few matches," a source in the Mumbai Cricket Association told TOI on Sunday.Meanwhile, in another interesting development, a source in the MCA also confirmed that India's former T20 captain Surya Kumar Yadav has expressed his availability for the upcoming season of the Ranji Trophy.
