The young Indian batter has been named on TIME100 Next 2026, a list of 100 rising stars whom TIME has identified as people who could shape the future of their respective fields.Sooryavanshi is the youngest person on this year's list and one of seven athletes to feature.The other athletes include American football quarterback Arch Manning, NBA star Tyrese Maxey, footballers Naomi Girma and Folarin Balogun, tennis player Alexandra Eala and basketball player Olivia Miles.From IPL auction to international cricketSooryavanshi first made headlines when Rajasthan Royals signed him at the IPL auction in 2024. At 13, he became the youngest player ever bought at an IPL auction.He made his IPL debut in 2025 and soon created history by becoming the youngest player to score a century in men's T20 cricket. He also became the fastest player to reach 1,000 IPL runs, getting there in 440 balls. He crossed 1,000 runs in T20 cricket in 473 balls, another record.Making his mark in international cricketSooryavanshi made his international debut on India's tour of the UK in 2026.After a difficult start, he bounced back on the tour of Zimbabwe and smashed an 18-ball half-century, becoming the youngest player to score a fifty in men's international cricket.
