HYDERABAD: Captain Shai Hope continued his dream run, scoring his second century of the T20I series - an unbeaten 102 (50b; 4x4, 9x6) - while pacer Keemo Paul bagged 5/41 as the West Indies defeated India by 24 runs to make it 2-2 and keep the fivematch series alive here at the Rajiv Gandhi International stadium on Wednesday. After the West Indies were put in to bat, Hope hit his third century in T20Is to power the visitors to 247/3. Later, Paul’s exploits on a batter-friendly wicket saw India finish at 223 in 19.3 overs as last batter Arshdeep retired hurt.Chasing a stiff target, Samson (56; 23b, 6x4, 4x6) launched into Shamar Joseph with consecutive sixes and Roston Chase with two boundaries and as many sixes to take India to 50 in three overs. He reached his half-century off just 20 balls while Abhishek Sharma played just three deliveries at the other end in that period. However, Samson departed after pulling Paul straight into the hands of Hetmyer at deep square leg.Ishan Kishan (6) also holed out to deep midwicket as the hosts went to 80/2 in the Powerplay. Nitish took a special liking to Shamar Joseph, hitting him for 21 runs with a boundary and consecutive sixes in the 16th over to bring down the equation to 53 from five overs. However, Tilak (43; 25b, 2x4, 3x6) was caught at mid-off off Shepherd that reduced India to 200/6.There on, the chase proved too steep for the hosts. Paul removed Nitish (41; 20b, 1x4, 4x6), Prince Yadav and Axar Patel in four deliveries of the 19th over.Earlier, Jewel Andrew and Hope provided a quick start, putting 50 runs on the board in just 3.3 overs.
