Eddie Hearn Raises Major Doubt About Conor Benn's Future After Ryan Garcia Loss

Conor Benn was on the wrong end of a vicious TKO loss to Ryan Garcia on Saturday and now there are questions as to whether he'll fight again. It's important to mention that some of these questions are coming from Benn's former promoter Eddie Hearn. Benn left Hearn to sign with rival Dana White's Zuffa Boxing. Garcia blew Benn away after the latter had to endure a brutal weight cut to get down to 147 pounds. Benn was paid handsomely for his sacrifice, but he did take the kind of loss that changes a fighter. What's next for Benn? Let's talk boxing.

Hearn's verdict came on iFL TV, and he opened with an admission : he did not watch the fight. He watched Misfits Boxing and went to bed. On Benn's future, Hearn said he will be done within a year, may have one more fight and may not fight again at all, because he has made his money.

He also said Benn looked lost and like a rabbit in headlights, and that Saturday answered the world-class question in the negative. Hearn still sees money in a Chris Eubank Jr. trilogy.

Benn admitted on Instagram that he doesn't know what's next for him.

Benn did put himself through a brutal weight cut, but I also think he hit his talent/performance ceiling. Benn is as tough as they come and he is a solid puncher. That said, he has always had footwork and defensive issues. Both of those things reared their ugly heads on Saturday. Benn was so preoccupied with Garcia's vaunted left hook that he overcompensated and forgot about the right hand.

That was the punch that put him down and effectively ended his night. Did it end his career? Maybe. Benn made enough money over the past two fights that he could probably walk off into the sunset and be fine for the rest of his life. However, he is a competitor and it might be too tough for him to stay away from the glory that a fighter can only find in the ring. We'll see, but Hearn probably isn't way off base.
