After a 12-year run as a team in WWE, New Day's Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods made their AEW debut Sunday at All In as New Level under the names Kofi and Awesome Austin Creed.

Kofi and Creed emerged at Wembley Stadium in London as the surprise tag team partners for Swerve Strickland in the AEW Trios Roulette Royale.

Swerve, Kofi and Creed won the match to dethrone "Hangman" Adam Page and Brodido as AEW World Trios Champions. Kofi and Creed are now the first AEW wrestlers to win a title in their first appearance in the company.

The professional wrestling world was left in a state of shock in May when Kingston and Woods left WWE after 20 and 16 years with the company, respectively.

It was later reported by Bryan Alvarez of Wrestling Observer Live (h/t Subhojeet Mukherjee of Ringside News) that Kingston and Woods made the decision to leave WWE after being asked to take a pay cut.

When Kingston and Woods officially became free agents 90 days after their WWE release, they posted an animated video on X that seemed to indicate they had left WWE and were preparing to write their next chapter in pro wrestling:

For most of its existence, New Day was a three-man unit comprised of Kingston, Woods and Big E in WWE. In any iteration, New Day is the most-decorated tag team in WWE history with 12 tag team title reigns, including a record for the longest singular reign at 483 days.

When Big E suffered a serious neck injury in 2022 that rendered him unable to wrestle any longer, Kingston and Woods continued to use the New Day moniker as a duo.

Individually, the 45-year-old Kingston was a four-time intercontinental champion and three-time United States champion. He also won the WWE Championship at WrestleMania 35 in one of the most memorable moments in WrestleMania history.

Woods, 39, never held a singles title in WWE, but he did win the 2021 King of the Ring tournament.

With Kingston and Woods now in AEW, they figure to become a featured part of an already stacked tag team division that includes The Young Bucks, Cope and Cage, FTR, The Motor City Machine Guns and many others.
