DWCS 89 video: Sean Clancy Jr. makes UFC contract bid with ferocious TKO
Sean Clancy Jr. brought the accolades of a Cage Warriors title into his DWCS 89 fight, and left with a clear win.
Sean Clancy Jr. brought the accolades of a Cage Warriors interim title into his Dana White's Contender Series 89 opportunity, and showed he's worthy of moving to the big stage.
The 23-year-old kept his undefeated record intact Tuesday at Meta APEX in Las Vegas with a second-round TKO of Gary Balletto (11-4) in their welterweight bout. Once Clancy Jr. (8-0) took the fight to the ground, he got to mount and unleashed until the referee pulled him off at the 3:54 mark of Round 2.
After getting his hand raised, the Scottish prospect said he's ready to take his talents to a higher level.
"Here's to many more," Clancy Jr. said in his post-fight interview with Laura Sanko. "It would mean everything to me (to join the UFC). I wouldn't be as good as I am for the boys (in Scotland). The boys help me so much, it's the least I could do."
Sean Clancy Jr. def. Gary Balletto via TKO (punches) – Round 2, 3:54
Ronald Humphrey def. Alexis Miranda via submission (rear-naked choke) – Round 1, 4:03
