Gable Steveson Loses to Sharaf, Judges' Scorecards, Prize Money, Stats & Highlights from UFC 331

Gable Steveson's UFC career took a surprising turn on Saturday with a stunning first-round knockout loss to Sean Sharaf on the UFC 331 main card from the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles.

Steveson got a firsthand lesson in the unpredictability of MMA as Sharaf uncorked a massive left hook in the opening exchange that put Steveson out.

Sharaf left the crowd in disbelief. He was a longshot to even win, let along win by first-round knockout.

The underdog etched his name in history with one of the fastest finishes in UFC history.

Steveson's UFC record falls to 1-1 and his stock in the heavyweight division now takes a hit.

The 26-year-old is one of the most highly anticipated UFC prospects in recent memory with a collegiate wrestling career that includes a 103-3 record and two national championships. However, there are clearly some lessons that need to be learned before he can start competing for a championship.

Sharaf is relative unknown 33-year-old who had an 0-2 UFC record going into this bout. Taking a loss to him will put pressure on Steveson to re-establish himself as a prospect on a title trajectory.

The former Minnesota Golden Gopher doesn't want it to take five years for him to get to the top of the game.

"I think I'm closer than people probably realize," he said, per Donagh Corby of Bloody Elbow. "I'm still new, so I want my reps and I want to keep improving, but I'm not here to take five years to get there. I want that belt as fast as possible."

Clearly, he is need of more development, but the talent is still there for him to learn from this loss and come back stronger.
