Don't believe all the hype you've heard about the strength of chimpanzees. It's nonsense, according to MMA fighter Cole Johnson, who plans on proving it by fighting one and beating it. The 24-year-old, who goes by Wavy MMA on social media and fights out of City Kickboxing in New Zealand, has one professional fight under his belt. He won that fight and that was enough for him to believe he could take on a chimp. Johnson made the announcement in a video last week, where he confidently stated, "I 100% wholeheartedly believe that I could beat a chimpanzee in a fight." He called out those who believe that chimpanzees are six times stronger than humans and laid an argument for why he believes he'd win the fight. "A chimpanzee is two times the strength of the average human. You know who else is two times the strength of the average human?" Johnson said. "Me. I've been grappling and wrestling my whole life. A chimpanzee is four feet tall and 130 pounds." He adds that any mauling or biting the chimp has in store for him will be met with slams and biting of his own, if need be. He called every doubter out for underestimating him as a "trained human." He claims that after posting the video he received an offer of $500,000 in his DMs to go through with the fight. That ended up falling through, but all was not lost. Johnson claims another offer for more than $500,000 materialized. The fight, he says, will be taking place against a male chimp that bit a couple of people. For the fight, the teeth aren't going to be cut, the claws aren't going to be cut, but there will be tranquilizers on hand just in case. Safety first. This is about testing himself. Man versus chimp. If he wins, he could be lining up combat with a polar bear. For that, he'd be armed with a sword, and he's, of course, predicting another win. But first thing's first, Cole Johnson is either doing a great job promoting himself or he's actually fighting a chimpanzee on a livestream on September 11. He didn't say, wisely, that he could beat a gorilla or anything completely insane like that.
