Mikaela Mayer and Chantelle Cameron butt heads at final face-off

Mikaela Mayer and Chantelle Cameron butted heads in their final face-off before Saturday's light-middleweight unification bout in Birmingham.

WBA and WBC champion Mayer and Briton Cameron had been cordial during the build-up but tensions spilled over at Friday's weigh-in.

As the pair came together to face-off at BP Pulse Arena, Cameron pushed her head into Mayer's and the American held her ground, pushing back before they ended up side-by-side and exchanging verbal insults.

"She isn't intimidating me," Cameron said after security stepped in. "All that yapping and getting in my face - just watch tomorrow."

Mayer, 36, claimed Cameron, 35, had said she would be "too slow", something the WBO champion dismissed.

"That's in your head, you're deluded. Shut your mouth, you're so deluded and you're making things up because you don't believe in yourself," Cameron responded.

After being pulled apart for a second time, Mayer added: "I didn't know this Cameron existed, she's going to need it."

Mayer and Cameron both came in 6lb shy of the light-middleweight limit at 10st 8lb (67kg).

Former undisputed light-welterweight champion Cameron has won 22 of her 23 fights as a professional, with her only defeat coming in a rematch with Katie Taylor in 2023.

Mayer is a three-weight world champion with 22 victories from 24 contests - losing to Briton Natasha Jonas and fellow American Alycia Baumgardner.

'Welcome to my world' - Dubois warns Moore

There was also plenty of tension when WBC and WBO lightweight champion Caroline Dubois and Amelia Moore faced off before their co-main event bout.

Dubois rolled her eyes and laughed during Thursday's news conference when Moore, who has only fought four times as a professional, said she had the tools to hand a first defeat to the Briton.

Both smiled as they were nose-to-nose on Friday with Dubois making her intentions clear as the weigh-in host placed a microphone between them.

"I told her I'm coming to take her head off," Dubois said.

Despite lacking experience in the professional ranks, 36-year-old Moore enjoyed a long amateur career and went through three Olympic cycles with the USA.

"It's very generic, she is saying the same thing to me that she's says to everyone," Moore said.

"It's a fight, Caroline. Welcome to the game. This is my world, I've been here a long time."

Moore tipped the scales at 9st 8lb (61kg) with Dubois one pound heavier as she looks to extend her unbeaten record to 15, having won 13 and drawn one.
