Featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski wants another crack at winning the lightweight title. "The Great" has proposed a mega-fight against lightweight champ Justin Gaethje and UFC CEO Dana White is open to the idea.

Volkanovski successfully defended his belt at UFC 333 on Oct. 24 defeating the previously undefeated contender Movsar Evloev via second-round stoppage. It was the second title defense of the 38-year old's second 145-pound championship reign.

Gaethje hasn't fought since defeating Ilia Topuria to capture the lightweight title at the UFC Freedom 250 event at the White House in June. If the two do get matched up against each other, former middleweight champ Robert Whittaker believes Volkanovski would get the job done.

"I want to see him fight Gaethje. I want to see him fight Gaethje because, dude, he beats Gaethje," Whittaker said on the MMArcade Podcast . "He beats him, man. 100% he does."

Volkanovski stated that he'd retire if given the opportunity to face "The Highlight." He suggested it could be the final fight for he and Gaethje. Whittaker likes the possibility.

"And that is such a cool thing that both guys leave it all out there. Both guys leave gloves out there. Both guys cement legacies. That's mad. That's a really cool end of the rainbow sort of situation," said the former champ.
