It sounds like boxing legend Manny Pacquiao could be in action later this year.
Matchroom Boxing's Eddie Hearn told BoxingScene.com that Joe Cordina has "agreed terms to face Pacquiao, but we don't know if it's happening. From our side, we've agreed to do it." The fight would take place on the Dec. 11 Netflix card headlined by heavyweight legends Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua.
A two-time IBF super-featherweight champion, Cordina would be in the biggest fight of his career if Pacquiao agrees to terms. The 19-1 slugger most recently fought in December, earning a unanimous decision win over Gabriel Flores Jr. in his second appearance since moving back up to lightweight.
At 47 years old, Pacquiao is still one of the biggest names in boxing. He returned to the ring after a four-year hiatus in July 2025, fighting WBC welterweight champion Mario Barrios to a draw. His impressive performance fueled optimism that he could continue his boxing career despite his age.
Earlier this year, it was announced that Pacquiao would face Floyd Mayweather Jr. in a rematch of their iconic 2015 clash. However, the fight was postponed indefinitely after Mayweather was sued for breach of contract.
While there would be a significant age difference against the 34-year-old Cordina, the allure of being on the biggest boxing card of the year could be tough for Pacquiao to turn down. Fury and Joshua have been building towards their showdown for over a decade, so their main event would certainly draw a large audience.
Adding Pacquiao to the card would boost the fan interest even further, so many will be keeping their fingers crossed that he agrees to face Cordina.
