Adam Copeland will be retiring from professional wrestling.

Copeland announced that 2027 marks his final year as a wrestler on Wednesday's edition of AEW Dynamite while also confirming that he's looking to capture the AEW World Title.

"I'm aging out, and that's okay," Copeland said (0:20 mark). "It happens to everybody. But because of that, I just want to let you all know that 2027 will be my last year in professional wrestling."

"I get it, I get it," he added. "It's time. But all of that being said, that is why I have to go for the AEW Championship."

Copeland also revealed that tag-team partner Christian Cage suffered a collapsed lung and three broken ribs after he was thrown into a ladder at AEW All Out on Sept. 26.

Copeland's 2027 retirement will mark the end of a legendary professional wrestling career that began in 1992, as he started by competing in singles and tag team competitions with several independent promotions.

He finally made his televised debut with the WWF, which was later renamed to WWE, in 1998 as Edge.

During his WWE career, he won 31 total titles. This included 11 world championships. Copeland also had memorable feuds with rivals such as John Cena, Jeff Hardy, Matt Hardy and The Undertaker.

He was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2012.

Copeland eventually returned to WWE from 2020-23 before making his AEW debut in Oct. 2023.

He quickly established himself as a threat upon joining AEW, winning the TNT Championship by defeating Cage at Worlds End in Dec. 2023. It represented the first of two TNT Championship reigns by Copeland.

Copeland and Cage ultimately joined forces, capturing the AEW World Tag Team Championship at Double or Nothing on May 24.

Still, Copeland has yet to win the AEW World Championship.

The 52-year-old will be stepping away from wrestling at the end of 2027, but will attempt to secure the title before doing so.
