Was the cop’s choke of the criminal UFC Fight Night 289's best finish?

There were a few key storylines going into UFC Fight Night 289, but not all of them played out the way the pre-fight hype intended them to.

The co-main event was set up to be a women's bantamweight potential title eliminator, and it brought with it a level of slut-shaming, in modern parlance, after Norma Dumont threw condoms and cash at Ailin Perez, a nod to her OnlyFans side hustle. But the fight mostly was a dud.

The headliner, though, delivered in a big way – even though the ending was bizarre and scary when Raul Rosas Jr. slammed Raoni Barcelos right into the hospital. Rosas went there, too, after taking tons of shots to the head.

But to many fans, the most satisfying finish may be Luis Hernandez's standing guillotine choke submission of Sedriques Dumas. Dumas has a lengthy criminal rap sheet in Florida and someone still gets welcomed back to the UFC for fight after fight – my how times have changed from the days Dana White fired Miguel Torres for a retweet. But when Hernandez, a Miami sheriff's deputy, choked him, he did a good cop thing and actually let go when the referee stopped the fight.
