Terence Crawford Reacts to Ryan Garcia Fight Rumors amid Tyson Fury-Anthony Joshua Buzz

Terence Crawford was apparently surprised to hear he is reportedly being considered as a replacement for a potentially cancelled fight between Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua.

When told Friday night on social media he might be fighting Ryan Garcia this December, Crawford responded with laughing emojis and asked why he didn't know about the news.

The fight between Fury and Joshua on Dec. 11 in Cardiff, Wales was confirmed Thursday.

Ring Magazine's Mike Coppinger then reported Friday the Fury-Joshua bout "could be called off due to issues."

Coppinger reported Crawford v. Garcia is "being considered" as a replacement," while naming Fury v. David Benavidez as "another possibility."

Crawford responded to Coppinger's initial report by asking him where he heard the news.

Garcia seemingly responded to the rumor with a post of his own:

The fight was being promoted by Ring Magazine and was set to stream on Netflix. The WBA "super" title was on the line in the bout, per ESPN's James Regan .

Joshua's original contract included a stipulation the fight take place in the United Kingdom, which caused issues with event organizers who wanted to host the fight in the United States, according to Regan.

The organizers eventually solved that problem by hosting the event in Wales, per Regan.

The fight is now being jeopardized by what Sports Illustrated 's Chris Mannix reported is a conflict over the involvement of UFC president and CEO Dana White, who appears to be allied with Ring Magazine owner and Saudi government official Turki Alalshikh.

Fury posted a video on his Instagram story accusing Joshua and promoter Eddie Hearn of prioritizing "ego" over making the fight happen.

Garcia and Crawford have been exchanging verbal jabs since Crawford announced his retirement from professional boxing last December at the age of 38.

Garcia, who has expressed interest in a fight with Isaac Cruz, said earlier this week on social media he is hoping to schedule a fight for December.
