After defeating Brian Norman Jr. for the WBO welterweight title last year, Devin Haney plans to return to the ring this year.

Per Mike Coppinger of The Ring, Haney will fight Liam Paro in a WBO and IBF welterweight title unification fight in San Francisco on Dec. 19.

The news of the unification fight comes just days after Haney inked a multi-fight agreement with DAZN.

"I'm at a point in my career where I want the biggest challenges and the fights the fans want to see," Haney said in a statement. "I'm excited to partner with DAZN. This agreement removes any doubt or uncertainty about my ability to make the major fights in boxing. I'm in position to fight anyone, and I'm focused, motivated and ready for whoever is next."

Haney was slated to take on junior welterweight champion Shakur Stevenson, but those plans fell through earlier this month.

Now, Haney has a new fight on deck, and it could be one of the biggest of his career.

The 27-year-old Haney is 33-0 in his career with 15 knockouts and has titles across three divisions. Paro, 30, is 28-1 with 16 knockouts and is coming off a unanimous-decision win over Lewis Crocker for the IBF welterweight title.

It will be a road matchup for the Australian Paro, but he's been in a similar situation before. In 2024, he traveled to Puerto Rico and beat Subriel Matías in front of his home crowd to claim the IBF light-welterweight title.

Whether he'll have that kind of success against Haney in December remains to be seen.
