Joey Votto explains exactly why the Boston Red Sox will beat the New York Yankees in MLB playoffs

The MLB Playoffs will begin soon, and with the Yankees facing off against the Red Sox , Joey Votto thinks Boston will get the win.

The MLB regular season will come to an end on Sunday, with the postseason beginning in the coming week. There are some exciting matchups set for the Wild Card Round, including one historic rivalry.

The New York Yankees will host the Boston Red Sox in a best-of-three series in the first round of the playoffs, which is a rematch from 2025.

Last year, New York triumphed 2-1 in the same round against Boston. However, this season, former NL MVP Joey Votto thinks that the result will be different.

The Yankees will be without their superstar, Aaron Judge, for the series. His injury issues have gone on for most of the season, and will see him miss this series.

Votto was speaking about what he envisions to be the World Series matchup this year. He picked the Red Sox to make it, explaining why he thinks they will beat the Yankees.

"I think the Red Sox, now especially with Judge being out, that Red Sox -Yankees matchup is a bad matchup for the Yankees," Votto said.

"No matter how good Schlittler is, no matter how good Cole is, the bullpen. They just don't have enough offense and they don't have their superstar.

"I think that in the playoffs, pitching trumps everything and Red Sox have plenty of that… I really like the Red Sox, especially when they get through the Yankees."

Only time will tell if Votto is right about this. However, the former All-Star has made some good points and Red Sox fans will want to believe this, too.
