Cops get cracking against 315 offenders in citywide night patrol
Indore police night patrol cracks down on 315 habitual offenders ahead of festivals, serving 113 warrants, issuing MV Act challans, and using drones and stings.
Indore: Police took legal action against 315 habitual offenders and anti-social elements during a surprise citywide checking and patrolling drive on Saturday-Sunday night.Conducted ahead of the upcoming festivals, the drive covered all police station areas of Indore, an official release said.Police served more than 113 pending warrants, including 26 permanent against long-absconding accused, 30 arrest and 57 bailable. Several absconding offenders were taken into custody.Police took 185 actions under the Motor Vehicles Act against 106 drivers in a crackdown on drunk driving. Challans were also issued to numerous two-wheeler riders carrying three people, one four-wheeler driver with an illegally fitted hooter and 34 drivers with black film on their windows. The hooter and films were removed and the drivers warned. Two cases were registered against people drinking in public.Bhanwarkuan police arrested a man for possessing an illegal knife under the Arms Act and caught a habitual offender with a stolen motorcycle. Preventive action was also taken. Summons were served on 61 habitual offenders under Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita.Police used drones to monitor hotspots and shadow areas and checked people with criminal backgrounds, including burglars, robbers, knife-wielders, externed offenders and those booked under the National Security Act. They were warned against further offences. Police also inspected hotels, lodges, night shelters, dhabas, railway stations and bus stands.Gandhi Nagar ACP formed a special team, including women personnel, under a sting operation named “Secret Midnight” in Rau police station area. Women officers in plain clothes monitored anti-social elements to ensure women’s safety.Active offenders were called to police stations to complete dossiers and warned against committing crimes.
