Jaylen Brown Named NBA's 'Best' 2-Way Player by Carmelo Anthony Ahead of Debut 76ers Season

Carmelo Anthony had some high praise for Philadelphia 76ers' wing Jaylen Brown during his 7PM in Brooklyn podcast this week.

"Brown is the best two-way player in the NBA," he said (1:02:01 mark). "... I think if [Victor Wembanyama] wasn't in the league, [JB] could win Defensive Player of the Year. That means your defense is elite. Your offense is elite. You were already NBA Finals MVP. You were in MVP conversations last year as an offensive player."

While Brown is widely considered a good defender, he isn't often talked about as elite in that regard, considering he's never been named to an All-Defensive Team. And some of his former defensive prowess has taken a back seat to the offensive load he's carried.

In Philadelphia, where there will be only so many shots to go around, Brown's defense will be an important secondary skill. Anthony certainly believes he's up to the task.
