Stephen Curry is on the short list of the best athletes of all-time across any sport, and the 38-year-old has reflected on his legacy going into what will be his 18th season in the NBA with one organization.

And the Golden State Warriors star talked with other NBA legends such as Kobe Bryant and Dirk Nowitzki who were also known for remaining with one team throughout their career, even if those discussions were about more than just franchise loyalty.

"Not specifically about that short list of guys who played for one team. But I talked to Kobe years back, like the year after he retired," Curry told Marc J. Spears of Andscape. "And it was more about the transition into exerting that creative energy into something else. Talked to Dirk, who still lives in Dallas, represents the organization, gets to come back. That connection as a player and now like the ambassador, whatever role he's playing in the organization, how much he's fulfilled by that.

"I've talked to Tom Brady just about longevity and playing. But I think the biggest thing is that there's a mutual respect of all of us of knowing what it takes to carry the torch at that stage and that level for as long as we've been able to do it. And I feel that every single day."

While Brady also played for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers later in his career, he is best known for his 20 seasons as a franchise icon with the New England Patriots.

Brady played until his age-45 season and remained at a high level throughout his career. That is something Curry, who was an All-Star last season and finished in the top 10 of MVP voting in 2024-25, can certainly relate to even if he is past the peak of his career.

As for Bryant and Nowitzki, they remained with the Los Angeles Lakers and Dallas Mavericks for the entirety of their respective careers and were beloved by fans even when they were on the doorstep of retirement.

"To represent the organization for that long, to play in front of one fanbase, and grow up through all the ups and downs, triumphs, the losses, the kind of personal development journey I've been on, and all that … there's definitely a sense of pride being able to see it through," Curry said. "And now I can just play basketball and enjoy it. And that's what I'm excited about."

Regardless of what happens for the rest of his career, Curry is an all-time great with a resume that includes four championships, two league MVPs, two scoring titles, an NBA Finals MVP, 11 All-NBA selections and 12 All-Star nods.

There aren't many who can relate with what he's accomplished, but he made sure to reach out to some of those who could in Bryant, Brady and Nowitzki.
