Jayson Tatum explained that he doesn't feel any animosity towards Philadelphia 76ers star Jaylen Brown, his former Boston Celtics teammate.

"For me, I understand we're in the entertainment business," Tatum told reporters Friday. "Me personally, I'm not much of an off the court entertainer type of guy. For me, I don't have any animosity or beef or ill will towards him. I think the frustrating part is since he's not with the Celtics anymore, the narrative or conversations haven't been enough about what we've accomplished. All the games we've won, winning a championship, how we've grown together. It's turned into this drama type of thing."

"I reached out to him the day he got traded," he added. "I called him, I texted him. I understand people process things differently. At this point in our lives, we're too old to be having our relationship discussed X, Y, and Z like on the internet. If there's a conversation to be had, we can definitely have that."

Tatum added: "This ain't no f--king Shaq and Kobe."

After Tatum previously posted a video in which he explained that he was "just as much caught off guard as the rest of the world" by the offseason trade between the Celtics and 76ers involving Brown, his old teammate responded with a cap emoji .

On July 1, Philadelphia acquired Brown from Boston in exchange for Paul George, two first-round draft picks and two second-round picks.

The change of scenery occurred after the Celtics reportedly offered Brown in trade negotiations for Giannis Antetokounmpo, but the Milwaukee Bucks ultimately dealt the two-time MVP to the Miami Heat.

After Boston's trade with Philadelphia was finalized, ESPN's Shams Charania reported that the off-court relationship between Brown and Tatum was "as close to non-existent as you could have" over the past year.

Brown revealed that he had yet to speak with Tatum about the trade during his introductory press conference on Aug. 6 and admitted they had their "ups and downs," but also explained that he still had "respect" for his former teammate.

Brown and Tatum's shared tenure in Boston was from 2017-26, as the Celtics made the playoffs in every season across that span. They combined to earn 11 All-Star nods during that time.

The duo helped lead the Celtics to a championship in 2024, with Brown taking home Finals MVP honors.

The Celtics and 76ers will face off for the first time during the 2026-27 season on Nov. 10.
