Latest NBA Rumors, Live Updates Ahead of Bronny Roster Decision, Rookie Scale Extension Deadline

The Charlotte Hornets' offseason trade of LaMelo Ball signaled a few things.

The Hornets may simply have valued him a bit less than the Minnesota Timberwolves did. Charlotte may not have been confident that he'd have another season as healthy as 2025-26. It might be higher on Coby White than people realize.

The biggest takeaway, though, is that the organization does have plenty of confidence in Kon Knueppel and Brandon Miller to be its two best players. And with that being the case, an extension for Miller, even at a pretty lofty price, wouldn't be surprising.

He's had his own struggles with availability, but over the last two seasons, Miller has averaged 20.4 points, 3.4 assists and 3.e threes in 31.4 minutes, while shooting 37.3 percent from deep.

At 6'7", he has good size for a wing and is only 23 years old.

This season, he should get a chance to expand on his playmaking duties a bit. And the Hornets should be eager to lock in his longterm salary before a further breakout forces it to max territory.
