Ziaire Williams went to SoFi Stadium on Friday night for a Bruno Mars show, but the Lakers wing had a bigger plan than singing along. Mars and the stadium crew both appeared to be in on it.The song was "Marry You," and Williams used it to propose to his girlfriend while cameras rolled. The video board carried the moment to the stadium, and fans soon passed the clip around online. The Lakers have not even opened the preseason yet, which makes it the first big headline of their new season.Ziaire Williams proposes to girlfriend at Bruno Mars concertZiaire Williams picked a stadium concert for a question that usually gets asked in private. The proposal came on Friday night at SoFi Stadium, right as Bruno Mars performed "Marry You." Mars and the stadium staff appeared to know the surprise was coming. Cameras caught the moment, and the video board put it in front of the crowd so everyone could celebrate with the couple. The song choice did half the work. Few tracks announce the question as clearly as "Marry You," and the crowd had an easy cue to cheer.SoFi Stadium posted its own reaction on X. "It really was a beautiful night 🥹💍," the venue wrote, tagging Mars. Fan video spread as well. A post from @MrBuckBuckNBA, sharing a clip from @Kjblazin, read:“Ziaire Williams just proposed to his girlfriend at the Bruno mars concert. Way to start your journey with the Lakers.”The night also fits a busy summer for Williams. He joined the Lakers a few months ago, a move that brought the 25-year-old home and set up a reunion with high school teammate Bronny James.Williams turns attention to Lakers camp and a starting roleThe calendar did not leave much room for a victory lap. The Lakers went back to the practice court on Saturday and open a five-game preseason slate on Monday, on the road against the Sacramento Kings. Williams is one of the players competing for a starting spot, so this camp carries real weight for the wing.Memphis drafted Williams, and Brooklyn gave the wing the last two seasons. At Lakers media day, Williams talked about wanting to be in a winning environment. "I play to win, right?" Williams said. The mindset came from Williams' father, who taught the value of competing whatever the stat sheet says. The standard in Los Angeles is a championship, Williams said of Luka Doncic's team, and the wing is fully on board with that goal. Winning at home, with family and friends in the building, carries extra meaning.A bigger role could follow. Williams could grow into one of the Lakers' best wing defenders, provided the offense keeps improving.Stay updated with the latest Asian Games 2026 news, check the Asian Games medal tally and complete Asian Games schedule.Get the latest Sports News and Live updates.
