"This is my way of giving back": LeBron James opens up on his mission to help his hometown Akron

LeBron James, the NBA legend, might be a billionaire but he has always tried to give back to his hometown in Ohio. Back in 2004, LeBron James set up a charity to help his community and he has continued since. While LeBron James and his wife, Savannah James, look for new ways to help their hometown, his conversation with a teen from there has resurfaced.LeBron James reflects on what motivated him to help his hometown Akron through his charityA few years ago, as per Teen Vogue, LeBron James had a conversation with a teenager from Akron who was benefitted from his foundation.The teenager said, “Your foundation has helped me a lot with my grades. Being in your program gives me that support. What made you want to turn all of this into a school in Akron?”To this, the former Los Angeles Lakers’ icon said, “Because I know exactly what you kids go through. I was you guys not too long ago. I walked the same streets. I understand the same struggles. I understand the circumstances that you guys are being put in on a day-to-day basis.”The four time NBA champion added, “For me to be in the position where I am today, to have the resources, to have everything that I have, this is my way of giving back to you guys. This is my way of saying “thank you” to you guys, because I know exactly what you guys are going through.
