Karl-Anthony Towns and Josh Hart chose positivity Friday after the New York Knicks' announcement that they are pausing contract negotiations with potential impending free agents.
Towns, who has a player option in his contract for 2027-28, and Hart, who has a team option in his contract for that same season, both posted pro-New York and pro-Knicks messages on X following Friday's announcement:
In a statement provided to ESPN's Shams Charania , the Knicks said, "As an organization, our entire focus is on preparing for the upcoming season and delivering another year for our fans to be proud of. As a result, we will not be negotiating contract extensions until later in the season and will remain solely focused on preparing for the start of the season."
Towns and Hart are the two highest-profile players on the reigning NBA champions' roster who could potentially become free agents at the conclusion of the 2026-27 season.
