Christie, 21, featured in the majority of the Clippers' games last year after taking on a limited role in his rookie season in 2024-25, but couldn't carve out a bigger role for the Clippers despite his increased involvement. Through his 55 games in 2025-26, Christie averaged just 2.8 points, 1.4 rebounds and 0.6 assists per game on just 8.7 minutes.

The brother of Dallas Mavericks guard and former Los Angeles Laker Max Christie, Cam had plenty of upside as a shooter entering the league after one year at Minnesota. He shot 39.1% from deep and averaged 11.3 points per game as a freshman in the Big Ten, earning an All-Freshman Team selection before declaring for the draft, but his skills are yet to translate in the NBA.

He has a career field goal percentage of just 36.8%, shooting just 22.6% from beyond the arc.

Christie featured heavily in each of the Clippers' two preseason games against the Warriors and Raptors, but failed to make much of a difference in either contest. He had eight points, eight rebounds and three assists against the Warriors on 2-of-8 shooting with five turnovers against the Warriors in 28 minutes, and had eight points and three rebounds in 21 minutes against the Raptors—though he was more efficient in that game, converting two of his three field goal attempts.

The Clippers also just cut guard Yuki Kawamura , as the guard positions are extremely crowded on their roster. In front of Christie, the Clippers had No. 5 overall pick Keaton Wagler, alongside Darius Garland, Gradey Dick, Max Strus and Kris Dunn. With so many players in front of him, Christie likely would have seen his role further reduced with the Clippers.

The Clippers still have the opportunity to keep Christie, as they still have a two-way spot open, though with guard Jalen Pickett already filling one of those spots, keeping Christie may be redundant.

Christie's best plan of action is to try his luck with other teams, but he has just a week to join a different organization before the 2026-27 NBA season begins.
