Giannis Posts New Photos with Klay Thompson, Heat Teammates on Boat During Team Bonding Trip

Giannis Antetokounmpo is already working on building chemistry with his new Miami Heat teammates.

Antetokounmpo shared photos in a Friday Instagram post of himself and Heat players on a boat "with Captain Klay."

He included a photo of himself and Klay Thompson in a second post captioned "Critics have seats. Champions have scars."

Antetokounmpo's posts come after the Heat shared videos of players participating in activities including golfing and karaoke.

The Heat are preparing to open training camp Sept. 29 and the preseason Oct. 3 against the Toronto Raptors in Quebec City.

Antetokounmpo could make his regular-season debut for Miami when his new team tips off Oct. 21 against the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Thompson has been a boat owner since 2020 . The New York Times ' Scott Cacciola previously reported Thompson used to boat to work on a 37-foot fishing vessel during his tenure with the Golden State Warriors.

There's a chance Thompson could resume his oceanic commutes now that he's been bought out by the Dallas Mavericks and signed with the Heat, which plays in an arena located near marinas on Biscayne Bay.

The players' trip is capping off a busy offseason during which the Heat completed an almost complete overhaul its roster.

The Heat parted ways with players including Tyler Herro, Jaime Jaquez Jr. and Kel'el Ware while bringing in Antetokounmpo and Thompson alongside Tim Hardaway Jr. and Bobby Portis.

Creating a preseason bond between players on this new-look roster could be key for Antetokounmpo, whose public split with the Milwaukee Bucks was highlighted last January by him criticizing his former team's chemistry.

Miami will now hope a frontcourt led by Bam Adebayo and Antetokounmpo will be enough to lift this team back to playoff contention after missing out on the 2026 postseason.
