Kristaps Porzingis is out indefinitely with an undisclosed health issue ahead of the 2026-27 campaign, and Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr offered some insight into how serious the issue is.

Kerr told reporters Tuesday that he hasn't "seen him yet" and added that it's "definitely concerning."

While Porzingis is out indefinitely to start training camp, general manager Mike Dunleavy Jr. told reporters last week that there is still a chance he'll start the season with the team.

"I'm not marking him down as being out to start the season or anything like that. He's just not available this week," he said.

Golden State opened training camp in Hawai'i before playing its first preseason game on Sunday against the Los Angeles Clippers in Honolulu. Porzingis did not travel with the team.

Porzingis has missed a combined 90 games over the past two seasons because of health issues. In February 2025, when he was with the Boston Celtics, he began experiencing a prolonged upper respiratory viral illness.

Ahead of the 2025-26 campaign, Porzingis revealed that he had been diagnosed with POTS, a disease that affects the autonomic nervous system and impacts the nerves that regulate blood flow, according to the Mayo Clinic . It causes symptoms like an overly rapid heartbeat and shortness of breath.

"It hit me, and it hit me like a truck," he told Fred Katz of The Athletic last October. "The breathing wasn't good. I did everything I could potentially to feel as good as I could, but my engine wasn't running the way I wanted."

Before his latest setback, Porzingis had been in the Warriors' facility taking part in offseason events.

"He's been participating in everything," Dunleavy said. "It just kind of popped up."

Porzingis, who joined the Warriors last year after being traded by the Atlanta Hawks, is an effective big man when available. He put up 16.7 points, 5.2 rebounds and 1.2 blocks per game across 32 contests last year.

Unfortunately for Porzingis, staying on the court consistently has been a struggle for him over the past few seasons.
