The Philadelphia 76ers announced that center Ariel Hukporti suffered a season-ending torn right Achilles tendon during his team's preseason opener on Monday evening against the New York Knicks.

Hukporti, who played his first two seasons with the New York Knicks, signed a one-year, $3.4 million deal with the 76ers in July. The 24-year-old played 54 games last year (five starts) for the NBA champions.

Here's a look at the 76ers' current depth chart with Hukporti out for the year.

SF: Jaylen Brown, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, Justin Edwards

PF: LeBron James, Dean Wade, Dominick Barlow

C: Joel Embiid, Adem Bona, Jabari Walker

The 76ers are over the cap by $53.9 million, per Spotrac . They have $1.8 million in space below the first apron and $14.5 million below the second apron.

ESPN's Bobby Marks provided more insight on the 76ers' cap outlook following the news on Hukporti.

The 76ers are currently thin at center with backup Adem Bona out due to a sprain in his left foot suffered while playing for Turkey during World Cup qualifiers this summer, per Tony Jones of The Athletic.

Bona did not play Monday. ESPN's Dave McMenamin reported on Oct. 1 that Bona would be reevaluated in the next few days.

Jones gave insight Monday into what the 76ers might do at center without Hukporti, noting Jabari Walker and Dominick Barlow could be bigger factors behind Embiid.

The 6'7", 237-pound Walker played 64 games (six starts) for the 76ers last year, averaging 4.3 points and 3.0 rebounds per game in 11.9 minutes per game.

The 6'9", 215-pound Barlow played 71 games and made 59 starts for last year's 76ers team. He averaged 7.7 points and 4.8 rebounds per game.

The 76ers begin their season on Tuesday, Oct. 20 at the Knicks.
