Indiana Fever chief operating officer and general manager Amber Cox has been fired. The team announced her "departure" on Friday, confirming multiple reports.

"Through her two seasons with the Fever, Amber has helped us navigate the seismic growth of both the WNBA and our franchise," Mel Raines, president and CEO of Pacers Sports and Entertainment (PS&E) said in a statement from the team. "We're grateful for her contributions and wish her the very best moving forward."

Cox's ouster marks the second front-office shakeup of the day, after team president Kelly Krauskopf announced she would be stepping down from her position.

Cox was hired as the team's COO and GM in October 2024 after two years as the COO of the Dallas Wings. Prior to her time with the Wings, Cox served as the vice president for sports with the Connecticut Sun from 2016 to 2021.

Krauskopf, who has been part of PS&E since 1999, was reportedly directly involved in Cox's hire.

The front-office shakeup comes at a crucial time for the Fever, after Indiana was dispatched in the first round of the WNBA playoffs with a loss to the Las Vegas Aces. Indiana was already facing questions this offseason , but the search for a new president and GM will now take center stage.

Another offseason question was whether head coach Stephanie White would be staying with the team. In her postseason availability, Cox had said that the "continuity" of keeping White on board was something to keep in consideration.

"I think the expectation is always championship. We didn't meet that expectation, but we're going to learn from it and we're going to grow. Steph's players know that she rides for them," Cox said.

For now, though, White will be staying with the team, while Cox's time has come to an end.

Star guard Kelsey Mitchell, who led the team in scoring and was the second-highest scorer in the WNBA this season, is a free agent after coming off a one-year deal, while Sophie Cunningham is also a free agent. Aliyah Boston, another star player, underwent knee surgery after the postseason loss and has an unclear return timeline.
