The Golden State Valkyries and Atlanta Dream made history on Saturday by playing in the first-ever WNBA Finals Game 7, and they made even more history with the audience they drew.

The league announced Tuesday that the Valkyries' win over the Dream to clinch their first WNBA title is now the most-watched WNBA playoff game with an average of 3.3 million viewers.

The game is also the second-most-watched WNBA game since 1997.

The millions of viewers who tuned into the game got quite the show.

The game was tied with just over two minutes to play when Gabby Williams gave Golden State the lead with a deep three. The Valkyries then extended the lead to seven heading into the final minute, but Atlanta stayed alive after Allisha Gray made a clutch three to cut the lead to four.

Golden State ultimately managed to ice the game at the line, though, securing its first title in just its second season as a franchise.

Williams led the way for the Valkyries with 30 points, and she took home Finals MVP for her strong performance throughout the series.

The hype around the WNBA continues to get stronger every year, and an exciting finish to the 2026 campaign will only build momentum heading into next season.
