Klay Thompson Reacts to 'Very, Very Hard' 1st Practice with Heat After Joining Giannis, Bam

Miami Heat guard Klay Thompson offered an honest assessment of his first training camp practice with his new team in comments to reporters Tuesday.

Thompson is in town on a two-year, $11.5 million contract after agreeing to a buyout with the Dallas Mavericks and signing as a free agent in Miami.

NBA Reveals 'Points of Emphasis' for Refs

Anthony Chiang of the Miami Herald reported on Sept. 22 that Thompson is the "leading candidate" to start at shooting guard.

Thompson enters his 14th NBA season after 12 years with the Golden State Warriors and two with the Dallas Mavericks. Thompson starred on Golden State as one of the league's best shooters, winning four NBA titles and making five All-Star teams (plus two All-NBA teams).

The prolific three-point shooter has made 40.9 percent of his shots beyond the arc over his career, and he's still faring well from deep, making 38.3 percent of his threes last season.

Thompson joins a new-look Heat team that added Milwaukee Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo into the mix alongside Miami big man Bam Adebayo to form a phenomenal frontcourt on paper. Shooting guard Tim Hardaway Jr. and power forward Bobby Portis Jr. are also in the mix.

Miami will begin its regular season on Oct. 21 at home vs. the Minnesota Timberwolves.
