Yordan Alvarez Triple Crown tracker: Updates on Houston Astros slugger's chase for history

For much of this season, Houston Astros slugger Yordan Alvarez had been on pace to make history as just the 16th Major League Baseball player to win the Triple Crown, finishing the season as his league's leader in batting average, home runs and RBIs.

Alvarez's power has sagged recently, however, hitting just three home runs and driving in 13 runs since the beginning of August. That means he has a little bit of ground to make up if he's going to be the first Triple Crown winner since the Detroit Tigers ' Miguel Cabrera did it in 2012 and just the second since Carl Yastrzemski grabbed the crown in 1967.

Alvarez also is looking to join Jose Altuve and Yuli Gurriel as the only Astros players to ever win a batting title and Jeff Bagwell, Lance Berkman and Kyle Tucker as the only RBI leaders in franchise history. No Astros player has ever finished a season as the league leader in home runs.
