A pair of Division I women's college basketball games (Arkansas vs. Northwestern State and New Mexico State vs. Southern Utah) on Friday featured players scoring on their own baskets, per Ian Casselberry of Yahoo Sports.

In the first instance , the Razorbacks trapped Northwestern State after the Demons inbounded the ball under their own basket. Lady Demons guard Karma Wynn ran to help out trapped teammate Chloe Donnell, who passed her the ball. However, Wynn then ran toward her own basket for a layup, giving Arkansas an early 18-12 lead en route to an 89-59 win.

The basket, of course, had no bearing on the result, and Wynn did have good moments otherwise, finishing with six points, four rebounds and two assists.

In the second scenario, Southern Utah was inbounding the ball up 61-60 with 20.9 seconds remaining in regulation.

New Mexico State guard Emma Christiano was in the right place at the right time and stole a Southern Utah in-bounds pass on the Aggies' side of the court. Unfortunately, Christiano then drove to her own basket and laid it in for two, giving Southern Utah a 63-60 lead.

However, NMSU prevailed anyway after forward Stacy Chovino made a layup, stole the ball and then hit another bucket (following a timeout) for a 64-63 lead. Southern Utah missed a jumper for the win, and the Aggies earned the victory.
