Team USA pulled away in the fourth quarter en route to a 77-66 win over Spain in the FIBA Women's Basketball World Cup semifinals on Saturday in Berlin.

USA and Spain were tied at 58 entering the fourth quarter, but the Americans sealed the win thanks to a standout stretch from Jackie Young (six fourth-quarter points) and a lockdown defensive effort.

It was a tough shooting night for Team USA, which made just 39.7 percent of its field goals, including 3-of-18 from three-point range. However, Spain also struggled to get its offense going, finishing 37.9 percent from the field and 6-of-26 from three.

The big difference was at the free-throw line. The United States made 27-of-35 attempts from the charity stripe, while Spain was 10-of-11. For comparison, Breanna Stewart was 8-of-11 from the line on her own.

The United States is seeking its fifth straight World Cup gold medal. They'll have a tough task against France, which nearly beat Team USA in the Summer Olympics' gold medal game two years ago.

France has been exceptional in this tournament, going 5-0 and outscoring its opponents by 168 points (33.6 PPG). France just beat Germany 86-64 to make Sunday's final.

Still, the Americans have been impressive and resilient in their own right and appear battle-tested after hard-fought wins over Italy and Spain.

They also excelled against China (94-61) and Czechia (105-64) in the group phase and blitzed Hungary 108-56 in the quarterfinals.

The United States and France will face off for gold on Sunday at 2 p.m. ET. It will air on TNT and truTV and stream live on HBO Max.
