The NBA rescinded the technical foul that Los Angeles Lakers star Luka Dončić received during a recent victory over the Miami Heat, the league announced Tuesday.

Dončić was initially given a technical foul in the second quarter of the Lakers' 138-117 win over the Heat on Monday after he appeared to clap in the direction of an official.

He finished with 42 points, 13 assists, seven rebounds and two steals while shooting 14-of-24 from the field in the victory.

Dončić has now scored at least 40 points in four of his seven appearances this season, averaging a league-leading 38.3 points per game.

The six-time All-Star is also recording 8.1 assists, 8.0 rebounds and 1.9 steals per game while connecting on 49.7 percent of his field goals and 42.7 percent of his triples.

Dončić has established himself as one of the NBA's top offensive players throughout his nine years in the association, but he's also developed a reputation for picking up technical fouls by expressing his displeasure with certain calls made by officials.

He amassed 16 technicals during the 2025-26 season, ranking No. 2 among all players. Dončić also racked up 13 technical fouls in just 50 games during his 2024-25 campaign.

After the NBA's decision on Tuesday, the 27-year-old has just one technical to begin the 2026-27 season.

"This season, I'm not trying to get techs," Dončić said on Oct. 21, per ESPN's Anthony Slater .

It would be beneficial for the Lakers if he can avoid reaching 16 technical fouls before the end of the season, as it would result in a one-game suspension. Los Angeles is currently looking to contend in the Western Conference led by Dončić and Austin Reaves following the departure of LeBron James in free agency this summer.

The Lakers hold the No. 4 spot in the West standings with a 6-2 record.
