Brandin Podziemski has secured a fully guaranteed rookie-scale extension from the Golden State Warriors, according to ESPN's Shams Charania , who reported Saturday that the 23-year-old guard has agreed to a five-year, $110 million deal with the organization.

The contract includes a mutual option in the fifth year (2031-32) and a trade kicker, per Charania. It also assures the 2023 No. 19 overall pick that he's part of the Warriors' long-term plans. He will now avoid restricted free agency next summer.

As for the mutual option specifically, according to ESPN , it allows either side to opt in, not out, of the deal's final season. In the offseason leading up to that campaign, Podziemski and the Warriors will be afforded the opportunity to engage in potential extension conversations.

Podziemski, whom Golden State drafted out of Santa Clara, averaged a career-high 13.8 points last season. He also piled up 5.1 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 1.1 steals per game in 2025-26 while shooting 45.5% from the field and 37.1% from 3.

His durability came in handy. He was one of 18 NBA players who played all 82 games last go-around, per Charania, who also noted that Podziemski ranks top three in charges drawn throughout his young career.

Podziemski has upped his scoring average each of his three seasons in Golden State. Now entering Year 4, the final year of his rookie contact, he was the first player general manager Mike Dunleavy drafted. Podziemski's extension will kick in for the 2027-28 season.

He will reportedly make $18.9 million in his first season on his new contract. That slightly lower figure will provide the Warriors more cap flexibility in 2027-28. That could help Dunleavy supplement a veteran-heavy roster featuring Stephen Curry.

Podziemski is set to begin this season starting alongside Curry in the Warriors' backcourt. He brings much-needed youth to an aging Golden State squad.

Without recovering wings Jimmy Butler III and Moses Moody, and center Kristaps Porziņģis — who is out indefinitely with a health issue — Podziemski's contributions will be especially vital.
