The Golden State Valkyries' 68-64 win over the Atlanta Dream set a WNBA Finals viewership record.

Game 1 last Saturday averaged 2.1 million viewers across NBC and Peacock, the largest-ever rating for a WNBA Finals opener. The broadcast peaked at three million as the Valkyries sealed their victory.

Not surprisingly, San Francisco (4.49 million) had the largest viewership in terms of individual markets. New Orleans was next on the list at 3.04 million.

Golden State held on to win what proved to be a defensive struggle. The Valkyries and Dream combined to shoot 32.4 percent from the field and commit 22 turnovers.

Gabby Williams (26 points) was the only Golden State player to score in double figures. On the other side, Angel Reese posted what was then her second double-double (14 points, 12 rebounds) of the postseason.

The Dream evened up the series in Game 2 with an outstanding performance from Reese. She scored 30 points and hauled in 16 points as her team won by 14 points. Jordin Canada matched her double-double by putting up 13 points and 10 assists.

Game 3 is Wednesday in Atlanta with tip-off at 8 p.m. ET.
