Ja Morant Reacts to Damian Lillard's Photo of Incredible Performance in Practice Ahead of NBA Season

Portland Trail Blazers star Damian Lillard's recent performance during a practice session caught the attention of many people, including new teammate Ja Morant.

After Lillard posted a photo showing he made 1,100 out of 1,168 shot attempts, Morant reacted with a simple comment stating "this gon be funnnnn".

Lillard has not played in an NBA game since April 27, 2025, when he was with the Milwaukee Bucks. He tore his Achilles in Game 4 of the first-round playoff series against the Indiana Pacers, then was surprisingly waived by the Bucks just over a month later with $113 million remaining on his contract.

The move opened the door for Lillard to return to the Blazers, with whom he spent the first 11 years of his NBA career and became one of the best players of this generation.

Morant is joining Portland this season after being acquired in a trade with the Memphis Grizzlies.

The pairing of Lillard and Morant gives the Blazers one of the most intriguing backcourt duos if they stay healthy. They have combined to play a total of 128 games over the past two seasons.

Portland has one of the most fascinating rosters in the NBA right now. Lillard, Morant, Jrue Holiday and Scoot Henderson are all in the backcourt. Deni Avdija is coming off a breakout season that earned him an All-Star nod. Donovan Clingan was one of the league's best rebounders and rim protectors last season.

All of these pieces suggest a team that could be very good, but they have the difficult test of playing in the Western Conference with arguably the two best teams in the NBA in the San Antonio Spurs and the Oklahoma City Thunder.
