Indiana Fever fans congratulate Sophie Cunningham for crossing major career milestone

Sophie Cunningham crossed a major WNBA career milestone during the Indiana Fever 's 96-77 win over the Minnesota Lynx on September 22.

Cunningham broke out of a recent cold spell that saw her go four games without scoring more than five points, with an 11-point night on 50% shooting from three against the Lynx.

With her seventh point of the game, Cunningham reached a mark that multiple WNBA players in the history of the league have reached before her.

The Fever shared a congratulatory message for Cunningham after she crossed the 2,000-point mark on social media.

"Go Soph. Congrats to Sophie Cunningham on surpassing 2,000 career points."

Cunningham ended the game with a total of 2,004 points over her nine-year WNBA career. She has averaged 7.9 points over 254 career games and is a solidified veteran role player.

While her numbers don't jump out with their volume, it is an incredible achievement among all pre-2023 expansion players to have had as long a career as she has, given the high burn rate of WNBA athletes prior to the recent aggressive expansion opening up more roster spots around the league.

Cunningham's career milestone brought her fans out with multiple messages of congratulations.

"Sophie Cunningham just hit 2,000 career points tonight against the Lynx. She is 9th in WNBA history in True Shooting percentage. She is a 50% career three-point shooter in the playoffs. People don't talk about her efficiency enough," said a fan .

"Admin been holding onto the graphic for so long," acknowledging her poor form recently .

"Finally something in the WNBA worth celebrating. This is so cool to acknowledge," said one fan .

Cunningham is averaging 8.0 points on 42.9% from three in the 2026 WNBA season. She is expected to feature in the 2026 WNBA Playoffs with the Fever.
