Jalen Brunson Announces Injury Update in Viral Video After Offseason Surgery Following NBA Title Run

Jalen Brunson confirmed he has been fully cleared from the left wrist surgery he underwent after leading the New York Knicks to the 2026 NBA title.

Brunson provided the update Thursday while joining Josh Hart in hosting a live taping of their podcast The Roommates Show at Randall's Island Park.

"As you guys know, I had surgery this offseason, and I just wanted to tell you guys that I am fully cleared," Brunson said (h/t Madyson Eisen).

SNY's Ian Begley and ESPN's Shams Charania first reported in July Brunson had undergone surgery on a wrist injury he had played through on his NBA Finals MVP run.

Brunson confirmed to Variety 's Marlow Stern in late July he had undergone surgery to repair a tendon in his left wrist.

"There was soft tissue that was holding my tendon and it kept flipping and snapping over the bone every time I shot, every time I flicked my wrist, and so clearly it was causing pain, causing friction," Brunson told Stern.

Brunson also told Stern that as of late July expected to be in his cast for six more weeks before continuing rehab.

ESPN's Vincent Goodwill reported last week Brunson was "at about 80 to 85 percent" in his recovery process and was not expected to face any limitations at training camp.

The Knicks are preparing to start training camp Monday, just under three weeks before tipping off the regular season with an Oct. 20 matchup against LeBron James and the visiting Philadelphia 76ers.
