Indiana Pacers star Tyrese Haliburton took some time to push back against a fan who criticized him for throwing out a first pitch for the Chicago Cubs despite growing up as a Milwaukee Brewers fan.

Haliburton responded to a post criticizing him of "going out of his way" to root against Milwaukee by screenshotting previous posts from the same user praising his play.

The social media spat took place after Haliburton made a Thursday night appearance at Wrigley Field ahead of the Cubs' 2-1 win over the visiting Brewers.

Haliburton said in an April 2025 appearance on the Pat McAfee Show he was no longer a Brewers fan because the club had rescinded an invitation to throw out a ceremonial first pitch in 2024.

At that time, the Pacers had just eliminated the Milwaukee Bucks from a second consecutive first round of the NBA playoffs.

The clubs avoided the same matchup last season by both falling short of the playoffs as Haliburton sat out the campaign with the Achilles injury he suffered during the 2025 NBA Finals.

Haliburton is now preparing to make his comeback after more than a year away when the Pacers open the regular season Oct. 21 at the New Orleans Pelicans.
