One of the top college basketball recruits in the class of 2027 is headed to the University of Alabama.
According to ESPN's Jeff Borzello , forward Zion Green has committed to play his college basketball for the Crimson Tide.
Green is rated as a 5-star recruit and the No. 24 overall prospect in the class of 2027 as part of 247Sports ' composite rankings.
Oklahoma, Ole Miss and Kansas were among the other major schools in pursuit of Green, per 247Sports .
Regarding his decision to commit to Alabama, Green told ESPN's Borzello and Paul Biancardi , "They first came to see me when I was at Mount Zion, and that means a lot. They've stuck with me throughout this entire process, even when I wasn't what I am now. They attended almost every one of my games. They made me a priority."
Borzello noted that Green represents Alabama head coach Nate Oats' second top-25 recruit of the 2027 class, and his third 5-star recruit in the past four recruiting classes.
Green began his high school career at Mount Zion Prep in Maryland before transferring to AZ Compass Prep in Chandler, Arizona, this season.
Listed at 6'9" and 190 pounds, Green helped his stock with his performances in The Border League, per Borzello and Biancardi, shooting 73 percent from two-point range and 40 percent from long distance.
Green is Bama's second major commit in the 2027 recruiting class, joining guard Chase Lumpkin, who is rated a 5-star and the No. 23 overall player in the class by 247Sports .
In 2027, Green and Lumpkin will join an Alabama program that has made it to six consecutive NCAA tournaments under Oats, including the school's first-ever trip to the Final Four in 2024.
Oats has helped turn the Tide into a perennial power, and that should continue to be the case if Green and Lumpkin are as good as advertised.
