NaVorro Bowman Jr., 5-Star Guard and Son of 49ers Legend, Announces CBB Commitment

Five-star combo guard NaVorro Bowman Jr. committed to UConn on Thursday, according to multiple reports .

Bowman, the son of former NFL linebacker NaVorro Bowman, is the No. 11 overall player in 247Sports' composite rankings for 2027. He's the highest-ranked recruit from the class to have committed to a school so far.

247Sports director of scouting Adam Finkelstein evaluated Bowman in July. He called the 6'3" guard a "volume scorer" and "true three-range threat":

"He handles, has stop-and-go change of pace, sharp changes of direction, a good left hand, and the physicality to initiate and absorb contact. He's a tough shot-maker off the dribble, with pull-up range that now extends well beyond the arc, and while there are still times he can settle (33% from three on 6+ attempts per game), he can also make shots in bunches. His ability to pressure the rim and make plays has improved significantly. He can not only get downhill with real force, but he's a quality passer when he wants to be, albeit still somewhat turnover prone at times (2.3 per game)."

247Sports' Travis Branham chimed in to say this should be a perfect fit for player and team:

Bowman showcased his skills this summer at the FIBA U17 World Cup. He averaged 11.9 points and 3.6 assists as the United States went on to win an eighth straight gold medal.

Bowman's father was a decorated star on the gridiron. NaVorro Sr. was a three-time Pro Bowler and four-time All-Pro during a seven-year career, the bulk of which came on the San Francisco 49ers.

The elder Bowman had some skills of his own, though. He was teammates with 16-time NBA All-Star Kevin Durant in middle school.

UConn didn't have a banner year on the recruiting trail during the last cycle. The Huskies finished 23rd in 247Sports' composite team rankings .

Getting Bowman's commitment is a great way for coach Dan Hurley and his staff to starting building for 2027.
