New York Knicks guard Josh Hart playfully diminished teammate Jalen Brunson's popularity after winning the 2026 NBA Finals.

When asked about the additional attention given to Brunson following New York's championship victory on Thursday, Hart compared him to LeBron James.

Brunson and Hart, the former Villanova teammates who have developed a reputation for trolling each other, helped the Knicks end a 53-year championship drought by taking down the San Antonio Spurs and hoisting the Larry O'Brien Trophy in June.

While Brunson's fame may not be at the same level as the NBA's all-time leading scorer, his popularity still grew throughout his 2025-26 campaign.

In fact, he ranked No. 3 on the list of the league's highest-selling jerseys during the regular season.

Brunson went on to excel throughout New York's playoff run, averaging 28.4 points and 6.1 assists per game on 46.5/36.3/84.6 shooting splits in the postseason. He earned Eastern Conference Finals MVP and Finals MVP honors.

Hart also showcased his all-around impact during the playoffs by recording 10.4 points, 8.9 rebounds, 4.6 assists and 1.7 steals per game. He averaged a team-high 3.4 deflections on a nightly basis, as well (via NBA.com ).

Brunson and Hart will open their 2026-27 campaign against James and the Philadelphia 76ers on Oct. 20. Tip-off is at 7 p.m. ET.
