By all accounts, Indiana Fever star Aliyah Boston turned in yet another fantastic season in 2026. The 24-year-old averaged a career-high 16.1 points per game and made the All-Star team for the fourth straight year.

She was equally fantastic in the playoffs, averaging 19.6 points in a three-game series loss against the Las Vegas Aces.

Boston apparently managed some of that excellence despite an ailing right knee. With the Fever's 2026 season over, Boston underwent surgery to repair her meniscus Wednesday, the team announced.

The Fever did not announce a timeline for Boston's return, saying it would provide further updates "as they become available."

It's unclear exactly when Boston sustained the injury, though she was forced to leave a game in late July after a hard fall. Boston clutched her right knee after the play, causing plenty of concern among Fever fans.

Despite that, Boston was able to return and play in the team's next game, dropping 14 points in a win over the Portland Fire.

Since being drafted No. 1 overall by the Fever in 2023, Boston has emerged as one of the best players in the WNBA. After winning the Rookie of the Year award in her first season, Boston turned in an All-Star season in her second year before getting MVP consideration in her third season.

The Fever have steadily improved in each of Boston's first four seasons. After finishing with one of the worst records in the WNBA during Boston's first season, the Fever went 28-16 in 2026.

As long as Boston is fully recovered by the start of next season, the Fever should have a shot at improving and contending for a championship in 2027.
