‘Didn’t Do That for Caitlin (Clark),’ ‘Fire This Fool’ — Outrage Erupts As Stephanie White Reps Kelsey Mitchell Shirt at Fever’s Regular-Season Finale

Nothing went Caitlin Clark 's way during the Indiana Fever 's regular-season finale against the top-seeded Minnesota Lynx on Thursday. The three-time WNBA All-Star recorded a career-low 2 points on woefully inefficient 1-for-12 shooting in the 86-66 blowout loss.

Clark didn't seem to get much support from the sideline either, as coach Stephanie White appeared in a Kelsey Mitchell Slam shirt. Clark's fanbase was furious over the lack of similar support from coach White for the WNBA superstar.

Clark had the chance to add another record to her name. She could have become the first point guard in WNBA history to post 900 points in a single season. She was only 11 points shy. Instead, she fizzled out with her lowest-scoring game ever.

Mitchell, on the other hand, added another piece of history to her résumé. With two made 3-pointers on 6 attempts, she broke the WNBA single-season record with 135 triples.

Mitchell has been a reliable scorer throughout the 2026 season, posting a team-high 24.7 points per game. However, the four-time WNBA All-Star saw her historic 27-game 20-point streak end as she scored only 10 points against the Lynx in the final outing of the season.

Still, White in a Mitchell shirt didn't sit well with Clark supporters, who didn't hold back from digging into the Fever coach with pointed jabs.

"Stephanie White and the coaching staff wearing Kelsey Mitchell Slam shirts but didn't do that for Caitlin's Slam Kicks cover for her highly anticipated Nike shoes. Very on brand for this staff," one fan wrote .

"Stephanie White is doing everything she can to hype KM for MVP over Caitlin Clark, when Caitlin has broken so many records…KM isn't [expletive] without Caitlin Clark assisting her on her shots," another added .

"Stephanie White always reppin her fav!" one Clark loyalist asserted , arguing that White frequently shows more support for Mitchell than Clark.

Amid Clark and Mitchell's lackluster production, the Fever were run out of the building by the Lynx's relentless offense. They suffered their biggest defeat of the season.

Putting Indiana's plight in context, one X user wrote , "And look how the game is going."

"Nope NEVER! Fire this fool," another X user wrote .

Meanwhile, a few supporters believed the shirt pointed to a bigger divide within the Fever, with one asserting , "The whole coaching staff is wearing a KM shirt. They're showing they're united and F CC. I have never seen something so aggressive from a staff."

The criticism did not stop there, as a fan bluntly declared , "I legitimately despise Steph White. She is the worst thing to ever happen to the Fever. She's a bad coach and a worse human being."

While the Mitchell Slam shirt became a talking point, the bigger story is that the Lynx steamrolled the Fever with a 20-point win, sapping their momentum right before the playoffs.

The loss dropped Indiana to the No. 6 seed at 28-16. The Fever will now face the No. 3-seeded Las Vegas Aces in the first round, with the series set to begin Sunday.

The only relief for the Fever might be the fact that they won the regular-season series against Las Vegas 2-1, including both road matchups.

Still, Clark will have to put the disappointing regular-season finale behind her quickly. The Fever will need Clark at her best to stand a chance against the defending WNBA champions in Round 1 of the 2026 playoffs.
