Jaylen Brown reveals there is a bit of conflict with former co-star Jayson Tatum

Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown played alongside each other for nearly a decade on the Boston Celtics . That came to an end when the Celtics ' front office, led by Brad Stevens, decided to trade Brown to the Philadelphia 76ers . Unfortunately for the Celtics, that trade helped their rivals convince LeBron James to sign for them.

A Tatum interview clip with Bleacher Report recently went viral about how he was caught off guard by the trade. Brown simply responded with a cap emoji because he believes that Tatum is not telling the truth about knowing about the trade.

Jaylen Brown admits there is a bit of animosity between him and Jayson Tatum

During their days together in Boston, it felt like Tatum and Brown were extremely close. They were the superstar duo of the team, and they reached two NBA Finals together, winning one of them. It was a successful partnership, but it seems that it has not gone beyond their stint in Boston.

Brown seems dismissive whenever Tatum is brought up. However, he did accuse Tatum of lying about not knowing about the trade. That is mostly because everyone knows that Tatum is the superstar, and Stevens likely consulted him when the trade was coming around.

No one in the world knows about the real situation except for Brown, Tatum, their management, and the Celtics. With this situation, it looks like Brown still has respect for Tatum, but there is some conflict between the two that everyone is noticing as well.

"I didn't see the full thing, but I saw that he said it's no beef, and I think he's right... We accomplished some great things; he's a hell of a basketball player, he's got a great PR team. There's no beef, but it might be a little lamb chops and some gravy. He should stay ready at all times," Brown said after the 76ers' latest game on Saturday .

While the overall message is that they are okay, there is some shade being thrown. The comment about the PR team came out of the blue, which is probably a bigger part of the dynamic than what people see. This is definitely an interesting situation because the 76ers and the Celtics will be having a lot of duels in the 2026-27 NBA season.
