Angel Reese becomes first WNBA player to grab 500 rebounds in single season
Reese had already set the record for most rebounds in a season and a single game earlier this season.
Angel Reese became the first player in WNBA history to grab 500 rebounds in a season during the Atlanta Dream's 106-81 win over the Chicago Sky on Saturday.
Reese hit the big number with her fifth rebound at the 1:53 mark of the first half. She created the rebound opportunity by blocking a layup attempt by Chicago's Gabriela Jaquez.
The three-time All-Star finished with 23 points and 10 rebounds, adding 4 assists, 2 steals and 3 blocks. She extended her record of double-doubles in a season with 31. Reese has also recorded double-digit rebounds in 16 consecutive games.
"Angel is smashing double-double records. All the rebound records, single-game rebound records," Dream coach Karl Smesko said to USA Today's Meghan L. Hall on Sept. 17. "She's having the best season of her career," he added. "From All-W perspectives, she should be on that. Defensive team. Defensive player of the year."

Isobel Borlase followed with a career-high 18 points, Allisha Gray followed with 17 points, and Rhyne Howard scored 14 as the Dream improved to 28-14. Atlanta has won eight of its past 10 games and still has a chance to finish as the No. 3 seed for the WNBA playoffs . The Dream ends the regular season with two games at the New York Liberty (25-16).
Jaquez led the Sky with 14 points, followed by Kamilla Cardoso and Aicha Coulibaly each scoring 11.
Reese had already set the WNBA record for most rebounds in a season , surpassing A'ja Wilson when she tallied 26 boards in a 78-71 win over the Los Angeles Sparks on Aug. 24. That total also set a league record for most rebounds in a single game.
Additionally, Reese has the third-highest season rebound total in WNBA history, snaring 446 boards in 2024. That set a rookie record and may have been the all-time mark had Wilson not overtaken her with 451 in the same season.
