WNBA reporter reacts to Caitlin Clark’s temper tantrum over his Angel Reese friendship question

WNBA reporter Jackson Thompson shares an honest take on Caitlin Clark 's brutal reaction.

Caitlin Clark and Team USA concluded the 2026 FIBA Women's Basketball World Cup with a gold medal following a phenomenal final over France.

Despite playing off the bench, Clark played a crucial role in Team USA's fifth straight gold medal in the competition. Clark showed excellent chemistry with her teammates, including longtime rival Angel Reese .

This led to OutKick reporter Jackson Thompson asking whether Clark and Reese have now become friends. However, Clark got angry at the question and slammed the reporter for pushing a narrative that the two WNBA stars were enemies at any point in their respective careers.

Over the last few days, Thompson has become a major talking point in WNBA circles for his attempt to ignite a beef between Clark and Reese with his question.

However, the WNBA reporter says he never expected Clark to react in the way that the Indiana Fever star did.

"I thought maybe she would talk a little bit more about it; I don't know why she reacted the way she did… I'm sure this topic is a sensitive topic for both her and Angel Reese over the years.

"Like I said, there's been a lot of agendas. And if we're being honest, these two players are used in arguments to discuss things other than basketball, quite frankly. And it's beyond their power," Thompson said.

He added, "Folks who participate in those arguments, this week they came together to root for both players. To root for both players, to root for Team USA, and they watched them play together. They wanted them to start together.

"Some folks did. Some folks were okay with the bench role they had, and it was a good opportunity, I believe, for that friendship to be revealed so that people knew about them."

This shows that Thompson never intended to start a debate between the fandoms of the two stars. However, he could have framed his question better as it's obvious Clark misunderstood his question.
