Minnesota Timberwolves president of basketball operations Tim Connelly provided an update on star Anthony Edwards but refrained from putting a possible timeline on his return.

Connelly said Edwards' knee injury is "not something we are concerned with long term."

ESPN's Shams Charania reported Tuesday that Edwards would be sidelined for up to two months after undergoing an arthroscopic procedure on his right knee.

The Timberwolves have been hopeful that the four-time All-Star can return "sometime in December or so" following the surgery, per Jon Krawczynski of The Athletic.

Edwards initially dealt with patellofemoral pain syndrome , also known as runner's knee, during his 2025-26 campaign. He was limited to a career-low 61 regular-season games due to the right knee issue before a hyperextended left knee caused him to miss two playoff contests.

Still, the 25-year-old opened the 2026-27 season on a high note before his knee surgery.

In Edwards' first four games of the year, he averaged 33.3 points, 4.8 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 2.0 steals per game while shooting 48.1 percent from the field and 40.0 percent from three-point territory.

Until he's able to return, LaMelo Ball and Ayo Dosunmu should continue to operate in larger roles leading Minnesota's offense.

The Timberwolves are off to a 3-1 start on the season.
